Thoughts on Lockdown (An Acronym Poem)

What the word 'Lockdown' stands for:

L = lonely, I miss my family and friends, colleagues and kids in my classroom.

o = on edge, I feel nervous and when technology gives me trouble, it feels as if it is time to throw in the towel, because everything depends on it now.

c = crying, I try to be positive, but lately catch myself finding a quiet place and just bursting into tears.

k = knowledge, we listen to world leaders and scientists and doctors to try and understand this chaos. It sometimes feels just too much.

d = down, I feel down and depressed some days and I need to hide it, and rather be strong for the people around me.

o = overwhelmed, I feel everything just becomes too much at times... new and creative way of teaching, home schooling my own child, cooking 3 times a day, taking care of my parents, training with my child to stay fit and slim.

w = walking, every second morning I walk outside with my domestic worker between 8 and 9, so that we get fresh air and stay sane.

n = news, I follow the news on the TV more often now, just in case there is some good news.

To see the unseen...

‘Lockdown' can also look completely different!

L = look, and see the clear blue sky, listen to the birds, listen to the voice of your cheerful child, listen to the Word of God.

o = observe, the miracles of God around you daily.

c = creative, you get time for the things you love doing in and around your home.

k = kneel and pray to our God of hope and love more often.

d = dream big and believe in your dreams after lockdown.

o = oxygen, plant more ‘Spekboompies’ in your garden and thank God for fresh air we breathe.

w = wash your hands and be grateful for the soap you have.

n = new world, new attitude, new realisation that our Saviour, our Father is with us and will always be!

So you see...

It doesn't matter what happens in the future, we are so privileged to know and accept Jesus in our hearts.

God bless you all!

Ek ken ‘n paar woorde

Published 2019 Woordgilde Bundel 84

Ek ken ‘n paar woorde

wat verklaar en

bydra.

Dis woorde wat smeek

en woorde wat vra.

Dis omsingelende woorde

en woorde wat sing,

in ‘n koor van bestanddele,

en gedagtes daarin.

Aanvallende woorde

soos woorde wat val,

in aanvullende druppels

wat verhaal en vertaal.

Ek tel my woorde.

Terwyl woorde my vertel

die gedigte van wonders

wat my sig

sal bevorder.

Dis die uitspraak

van nagedagtes en nadere gedagtes,

denke en wense.

Ek hang aan woorde.

Terwyl my woorde hang

tussen die afstand van lyf

en praattaal.

Ek staan by my woorde.

En my woorde bestaan

uit waardige woorde

vol

denkbeeldige

stories, vreugde

pyn.
